(Editors Note: this EP is actually much older than the LP)
is a great listen, and can hold your attention for its entirety.
This is a very brutal form of black metal. Low, guttural vocals that sound like a demon gargling blood and heavy palm muted riffs can be heard through various parts of the recording. There are some nice melodic parts as well, but chugging guitar parts and blasting alternate picking riffs seem to dominate a lot of the music. His more black metal style vocals really fit the sound well.
Overall this album has some really interesting parts to it. I'd be lying if I said I preferred this to his new work, but he plays this style very, very well. You can hear lots of synth accenting in some parts, something I've always though was good for this style. I would go as far as to call this blackened death metal at some points.
Even a blistering solo can be heard on track 4. There are some really "groovy" riffs (if you want to call them that) throughout this album, parts that just make you want to do a full body head-bang.
And another aspect of this album, same as the new LP, is that it has great production value. I don't know if he does his own mixing, but whomever does the mixing and mastering needs some recognition for their good work. Hopefully more releases surface from this great musician, I'm really interested in hearing more of his work.
