the rest of the album is as 'evil' as black metal should be until you get to the out of tune piano track of "dies irae pt 1", but it is this use of the detuned piano that makes it great !
this isn't perfect but black metal has never been about perfection. the strangled cries of the vocals are fitting; the guitar wails appropriately though each riff and there are some interesting moments of delightful feedback; the bass rumbles darkly through each song while the drums, though a little quiet, are full of the usual pounding blast beats of black metal though, perhaps, a little less fast paced.
there's nothing new here just some enjoyable tunes - "blasphemer", the opening track, is stand out, as is "dies irae pt 2" the closing track. this does what it needs to do...it's not filled with unnecessary or complex moments. this is a good thing to stumble across.
