while the songs themselves are good and varied with enough solo work to keep you thinking there's nothing new here; it's just slower, maybe a bit cleaner than some death metal. it almost doesn't quite fit together but somehow still manages it. the drummer seems to want to play hard and fast but the guitar work overrules. it's not as harsh and brutal as it could be. it doesn't rely solely on solid riffs or blast beats. the longest song "obsession" feels the slowest but also seems the most complete. there are one or two 'experiments' with song endings and the instrumental "disbelief grows" which are at first interesting but feels like it's being different for the sake of being different.
overall this is a good release but nothing special. this isn't for those looking for something brutal or harsh, that is where it is lacking - this is guitar driven - it's death metal but not as you might know it !
