the songs themselves are quite slow in tempo and some of the time (songs such as "labyrinth of tribulation", "an old spirit in the tower of woe", "keeper of the accursed talisman" and especially "outro: gleam of torches upon sepulchral inscriptions" you might find yourself transported to the kingdom of hyrule and looking for zelda who always seems to get herself kidnapped; while the rest of the songs "intro: procession through groves of the impaled", "scrolls from a lost wizard's codex", "behold the prophecy of fire", "interlude: amulet of wisdom long forgotten" and "inhuman murmurs of dormant deities" will whisk you away to a different dungeon in a less popular game !!!
there certainly are moments of 'extreme' minimalism such as in the song "labyrinth of tribulation" but often times it is left hand / right hand accompaniment with a few extraneous 'dungeon' sounds thrown in.
overall i didn't really like this because it's just not my thing. the song titles and artwork suggest black metal or dark ambient but the tags on bandcamp suggest something else entirely. if you're going for dungeon music i feel there should be layers and textures (atmosphere); if you're going for minimal the songs shouldn't be quite so 'tune' led (emptiness) but that's just me. i also didn't like the crackles throughout the mix. i can see this is a genre Sceadugenga clearly enjoys and there's probably a fanbase out there steadily growing. Sceadugenga should keep experimenting and continue to carve out their own little niche.
