In my opinion Voyag3r have produced a very intriguing album here; an unusual lineup of drums, guitar and synthesizer. The band make it clear that they use old school analogue technology as much as possible, using vintage synthesizers and recorded onto 2” tape. Doom Fortress is available on vinyl and I would recommend that format for this album. The music brings to mind Goblin’s soundtracks for Dario Argento films. Soundtracks are obviously a big influence for Voyag3r but the music stands up very well on its own; the synth and guitar lines work really well together, and neither seem to be after stealing the spotlight. Both leave enough space for the other to shine and some songs have the two instruments almost completing each others melody to great effect. The production is nice and clean with a pretty powerful sound when it is needed, but not overpowering during quieter moments. I will definitely be after this album on vinyl and look forward to hearing more from this band.
