On a more serious note, this is black metal. What did you expect? Symphonies, clean boots and clean singing? Lykankult wants you to piss off. If you can't listen to it, you don't deserve to be alive. If you are alive, why are you still alive? It's not music for everybody. It's probably not for you. And it's not done by one of you either. Lykankult simply is. All this midrange and treble is not exactly something you can identify with, at least on a normal day. On a less normal day, you can live with it. And on a totally wrong day, you can use it against someone, as a weapon. Even better, it's not all about the sound. Someone somewhere got mad enough to record a bunch of downstrokes, tremolo picking, blasts, screams and hisses without thinking of consequences. It was a spontaneous, bloody minded outburst. And it wasn't done by just anybody who sort of learned about black metal from the internet. This is the real deal. There's glory and possession, there's carelessness and rage. There's structure and diversity. And there's a smell of blood and... ah, to hell with it. That was all I'm going to write about the first six songs. The end. I wrote this while listening to them all, four times, and my ears need a rest. Go and hear them yourself. If you don't like it, or you get hurt, don't bother returning to this page and complaining because I'll tell you to piss off too. Got that?
And then there's the seventh track. It's not loud. It's not assaulting you with twenty weapons. It's an instrumental; an ambient track - which actually really is ambient. As opposed to people drawing inspiration from horror movies and making soundtracks missing pictures, or making noise for noise's sake, with this one you can actually go somewhere. It doesn't tell you what to think or feel. But it makes you think and feel. You're not even sure which is real, which is noise and which is an accident, and you will be left wondering about it for ten minutes. At one point there might be light, at another there will be anxiety, and at any time you might just be fooled. But no, nothing from real life will interrupt the meditation or whatever you, and only you, start experiencing. And yes, this one is personal. Again, just because someone felt like doing it and did it. No problem. All in a day's massacre. See? Told you that Lykankult is the real deal.
