with each of the seven songs there is often a key phase begun. for example, on bass, then gradually picked up by guitar or piano but within that elemental layer they key phase is changed and evolved; the original key phase is either calmly repetitive or replaced by the altered element. the songs feel both immense and enclosing at the same time - the key phase is often delicate and intimate and with you from the opening of the song, the gradual build up of layers is immense, and sweeps the song along and away from you. a few of the songs have male/female/both spoken vocals which have been done well and are full of interesting words, adding another intimate layer. my favourite song is the longest on the album "three furies" - it becomes quite doomy eventually and the build up of layers occurs loosely.
this is one of the best albums i've heard in a while; it's full of interesting details, sonorous layers and strange words. it's sometimes heavy, most times light but it's ready to take you on a slightly strange and disturbing journey...won't you join me ?
