firstly i have to say that these guys seem very well rehearsed - the songs are all really quite tightly packed and, for the most part, this is a well mixed album (for me the bass gets on occasion overpowered and perhaps the vocals could of come up a touch). the songs themselves seem to run into one another and most have a drumstick/drum or guitar count in which, as a listener i appreciated - jumping straight into riffs can be a bit harsh. overall this is a frantic 25 minute album. the drumming is solid - i especially liked the drumming on "prussian blue lips" - there isn't always a lot of kick drum but it's there when it's needed. the guitar and bass have slightly merged into each other (but the bass follows the riffs well) but there are a few occasions when the bass rumbles through. the chord progressions and riffs are immense. there are a few stand out moments of guitar work especially in "stabwound penetration", "axgxdxfx", "taemia saginata deathburger", "your stupid cries" and "alzheimer warfare", where you get cleaner riffs rather than the sludgey riff of "how many times do i have to repeat i don't care!", "cracked her head with the toilet seat" and "next miss progeria".
i can't say i've understood anything the vocalist has growled at me but then that's the point - die hard fans will work out the lyrics and shout them at gigs. he's a good vocalist - has a really good growl and tries a few different 'styles' of growling especially on the song "haha, your fetus is pregnant". there are a few movie quotes mixed in the tracks and this has been done quite well, fitting in with the theme of the songs. there are some good tempo changes even within such short songs but this is mostly up tempo and angry. i thought that this was a good, almost great release - not 100% my thing (i'm more into thrash and preferred Deicide to Cannibal Corpse) but this is technical and precise - a great grind/death metal album - highly recommended to those that like that genre!
